Mental Health Levy Finally Passes

Stonewall is so pleased to have been a part of the passage of a much needed mental health levy in Washington County. So many dedicated volunteers made this happen, including committee chair's Jim Raney and Mike Beardmore. Everyone involved is to be commended for their passion, dedication and sacrifice.

"I've said from the beginning — 14 months ago — that this is a community issue, a common good issue. We're a community of families and I'm just so happy to see that we turned these numbers around," said Mike Beardmore, a committee co-chair. "We tried to pass this thing four times and it was pretty much 60-40 against. I'm tickled pink. It's been hard work but a great experience. Now it's time to get to work."

The levy provides over $700,000 annually for 5 years for critical mental health services in the county. Washington County was one of only 12 Ohio counties without such a levy.
