Severe storms on June 23 caused devastating and historic flooding throughout much of West Virginia. In response to the disaster, Peoples Bank accepted monetary donations from the public throughout its locations in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio in July. A total of $7,834 was raised and matched by the bank for a grand total of $15,668.
Donations were split and forwarded to the West Virginia Region/American Red Cross and the West Virginia Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (WV VOAD) care of the United Methodist Foundation.
“Countless lives and livelihoods throughout West Virginia were ravaged by the flood waters. All funds raised have been donated to these two well-known and wide-reaching charitable organizations. Both entities are dedicated to helping West Virginia families affected by the flooding get back on their feet,” said Chuck Sulerzyski, Peoples Bank President & CEO.
